The 19-year-old was apparently crossing South Dixie Highway at Southwest 57th Avenue at about 5:00 a.m. when the car accident occurred. The driver of the car did not stop after striking the pedestrian.

After being arrested in Florida, a prisoner is often placed in the back of a patrol car for transport to a holding or processing facility. The ride to the police station or jail is most often uneventful. But on April 29 the ride was anything but boring as a car lurched across the center median of a highway and caused a car accident that injured both a patrolman and his prisoner.
Police reports say that the police cruiser carrying a Manatee County sheriff deputy and his prisoner was travelling northbound on US 41 in the left lane. A southbound Lexus was in the left lane when the driver suddenly veered across the center median, though no explanation was provided for what caused him to do so. The left front end of the Lexus struck the left front of the police cruiser.

A terrible tragedy occurred near Miami in Homestead on April 23. Police report that a 5-year-old boy was killed in a car accident. The collision happened just before 8 a.m.
The boy's aunt had the boy strapped into a seat belt next to her in the front when her car was hit by a pickup truck that was turning left. The force of the collision pushed her sedan into on-coming traffic where it collided head-on with another vehicle. The 5-year-old child was airlifted to Miami's Children's Hospital where he died as a result of his injuries. The two adult drivers who were seriously injured in the car accident were taken by air to the Kendall Regional Medical Center. Both were listed in critical condition.

As discussed in the previous post, a rash of fatal car accidents hit south Florida recently. One of the accidents briefly discussed involved a young child that was run over by a vehicle. The 5-year-old Florida girl was enjoying her Sunday afternoon while riding a battery-operated car in front of her home in Fort Lauderdale when tragedy struck.
The driver of a white cargo van was said to have struck the little girl and fled the scene, resulting in what truly was a wrongful death. The mother grabbed her daughter and took off to the hospital, also calling for emergency assistance. Tragically, the child was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at Broward General Medical Center.

Tragically, car accidents that cause injury or even death are all too common on roads in Florida and elsewhere. This was demonstrated recently when 10 people were killed in several unrelated car accidents across south Florida during a single 24-hour period. The unusually high number of incidents causing accidental death marks one of the deadliest days in recent memory.
The accidents happened from late Saturday and into Sunday night over the days of March 17 and March 18. They also varied wildly in type, including a pedestrian accident that killed a 14-year-old skateboarder, a 5-year-old girl who was run over while playing in her toy car outside her home, and a head-on collision on the Gratigny. Two other accidents involved a woman who was seven months pregnant and visiting from out of state and a 66-year-old woman who was struck in the parking lot of a church.

Recently a terrible car accident happened at an intersection Tallahassee. Authorities say the driver of a sport utility vehicle failed to stop at a red traffic light and struck another sport utility vehicle sitting at the stop light. The impact from the car accident caused the second vehicle to lurch into the intersection and ultimately came to a stop in a vacant lot on the other side of the intersection. Continuing to travel into the intersection, the first vehicle also struck two other cars before coming to a rest.
The driver of the second SUV was reportedly fighting for his life at Florida's Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, while the other three occupants of that vehicle perished. Two of the deceased were young children. The first SUV driver and his passenger were also injured in the car accident, though the injuries of the driver were reported as non-life-threatening. They were taken to local hospitals for treatment. The other cars involved suffered damage, but no reports of driver or passenger injuries were made.

Police reported that an accident resulted in the death of a Florida man on March 12. An elderly woman was driving south on US 17 when she struck a Ford Escort that was in front of her. As a result of the impact, the Escort was thrown into the path of an oncoming pickup truck. Attempting to avoid the car accident, the pickup driver went off of the road and onto the shoulder. The pickup truck eventually rolled over before coming to a rest.
There were multiple injuries to the victims of this car accident. Those injured were taken to local hospitals where their injuries ranged in degree from stable to critical. Unfortunately, the driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead after arriving for medical treatment. The elderly woman reportedly suffered minor injuries.

On the list of possible dangerous products, some consider tainted food as one of the most hazardous due to the mass consumption of food products and also the mass distribution that goes into food production. In recent years, there have been news reports of tainted foods leading to illness and sometimes even death.
When the negligence of a food producer leads to the injury of an innocent person in Florida or anywhere across the country, the producer may be held liable in a civil or even criminal court. Seeking compensation in civil court can help the recovery of those affected by the tainted product, and it can also send a clear message to manufacturers to take responsibility for the safety of their products.
